![]() ![]() Here's how I got my HP 1018 laserjet printer to work. But fret not! You just might be able to find a printer driver that is "close enough" for your printer to make it recognized on macOS. I for example have an older HP 1018 printer of which there is no official macOS support. If your printer doesn’t use AirPrint, contact the manufacturer for information. ![]() Use printer software from a file on your Mac: Click the Use pop-up menu, then choose Other. However, there still exist some printers that support Windows only clients. Use printer software installed on your Mac or downloaded from Apple: Click the Use pop-up menu, then choose Select Software. Go to HP Software and Driver Downloads, search for your printer model, and then download any new firmware updates. Make sure the printer firmware is up to date. Today with AirPrint and more ubiquitous macOS support you can just about print to any printer you can buy on the market. Check for software updates: Click the Spotlighticon, search for and open Software Update, and then check for and install any available updates.
